loss of connectivity to Exchange 2007

Due to a company amalgamation I am now supporting several Macs who need to
access an Exchange 2007 server. I have very little Mac experience, however I
have set them all up with Entourage 2004 to access Exchange and everything
worked fine. However today most of them can't access the Exchange server
because it is not accepting their password in the Entourage account
settings. This has not affected everybody. No settings have been changed;
either to their account, Entourage or Exchange. They can access exchange via
web mail from their Macs using their passwords. This is what they are all
doing temporarily.

I know very little about Macs, does anyone have any Idea why this has
suddenly started to happen.

On each computer go into the Keychain Access program (Applications >
Utilities) and find any entries for your Exchange server and delete them.
Next time they try to connect with Entourage, it should re-prompt them for
their Password. Now see if it sticks.

Sorry; I should have said what I've already done. I have deleted exchange on
the key chain; deleted the exchange account and recreated it but nothing
worked. I have heard that it has something to do with spam and Japanese
characters, however there are none in the accounts. The affected accounts
run Entourage 11.5 and we use Exchange 2007 Sp1.

There are accounts with exactly the same setup which are not affected.

This is the exact error I get "Logon failure: unknown user name or bad
password"

Now none of my Macs can connect to Entourage. They all could before and
nothing has changed. The PC's are unaffected. The Mac users can all connect
using OWA. So their logins are valid. I'm sure all you Mac and Entourage
experts out there can give me some pointers. I have posted to pure Microsoft
groups before with great success.

You mentioned the problem with Asian characters in spam. It's referenced
here
<http://blog.entourage.mvps.org/2007/05/exchange_server_hotfix_resolve.html>.

I'm not sure if this was ever a problem in Exchange Server 2007 but you
might ask your Exchange administrators to verify their servers are fully
patched up to the latest service pack.

This is a reference to a different KB article
<http://entourage.mvps.org/exchange/kb_articles.html#909268> that has
the same symptom.

Hope this helps!
