Loss of e-mails in Outlook Express 6

P

Peter Hallett

A well known clean-up program trashed my XP system, converting all text to
hieroglyphics. A non-destructive operating system recovery had no effect. It
was necessary to recover by reinstalling XP, which copied my original files
to the folder 'My Old Disk Structure_05_02_24 0738PM'. Recovery was
successful but, although I have been able to retrieve my original application
files, all my e-mails are gone and I cannot find where Outlook Express stores
them. I have read 'How to back up and recover Outlook Express data' and 'How
to Reinstall or Repair Internet Explorer and Outlook Express in Windows XP'
but neither article seems to provide the answers I need.

Try posting this in an Outlook Express news group - this is not one of them.
Outlook is a part of Microsoft Office and is what this group supports.
Outlook Express is a part of Internet Explorer and has its own news groups.

You can also find some good Outlook Express information here:

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

After furious head scratching, Peter Hallett asked:
