Loss of exceptions with changes in recurrence...

Say I have a weekly recurrent event. Then I have made
some exceptions. Then I want to change the recurrence
(change something for all the future occurrences). It
seems like I can only do it by ending the event all
together and then starting over. But then all exceptions
are lost.
Is there a way around this. The palm software has a
feature where it asks whether the change is for all the
occurrences or just for the future ones. I can't find
that in Outlook. Any ideas?
