Loss of standard print dialog box in Office 2004 11.2.1

I'm trying to find a solution for my user, using my own computer as the
baseline. Both are OS X 10.4.3, fully patched. They both run Office
2004 11.2.1, up to date.

When my user goes to print in Word/Excel (she doesn't use Powerpoint),
she gets a standard Apple print dialog box, like you would expect any
in Apple application, like Mail or Preview. She is printing to her
printer via Appletalk. Here is an example:

When I print in Word/Excel, I get the fancier Microsoft print dialog
with the print preview and other options. I print to my printer via IP
printing. Example:

I have already reinstalled Office twice, and thrown out all of my
user's preferences in her home folder. Perusing of these message
boards and Microsoft's knowledgebase has not given me any leads. Thank

Hi Robyn-

You don't mention anything about the printer, itself. Have you checked the
mfr's web site for updated drivers? Even if no update is available it may
help to reinstall as they have been known to go berserk. Make sure to run
Repair Disk Permissions either way... In fact, I'd try that first.

I've already repaired permissions several times. I suspect the drivers
are up to date already, but I will try reinstalling them.

Some printer drivers simply don't have that advanced dialog. I've never
seen that dialog box (like the second one) with either of my printers, and
one is fairly new even. What printer do they have?

My user's printer is an HP LaserJet 2100n, while my printer is an HP
LaserJet 2200n. I should note that my boss, who also prints to the
2200 gets the non-Microsoft dialog in Word/Excel and he also runs
10.4.3 and Office 2004 11.2.1.

Solution:

Attempt #1: As Admin user-Threw away all HP drivers and reinstalled
from the newest one from HP's website. Launched Word, dialog box
worked. Logged in as user, dialog box did not work.

Attempt #2: As user-changed user to an administrative user, removed
Office via Remove Office uninstaller (twice), threw out everything with
the words Microsoft, Excel, Office, Word, and Powerpoint. Rebooted,
installed Office 2004 again. Launched Excel, correct dialog box--as
user. Did _not_ update Office to the latest version.

*threw hands up in exasperation, but at least it works for now*
