Loss of view for CellArt and Inserted Pictures

I have a document in which I use dozens of cellart and inserted screen
captures for visual reference. I don't know what I did, but suddenly I can
no long see the content of the cells or pictures. All I get is a frame
object which shows as blank. I've looked everywhere for some kind of option
that may be been set off but with no joy. I'm stumed. The artwork is still
there; I can see it when I print preview a page. Could someone please tell
me what is going on and how to make it go away??
