"Lost" 5 pages of notes in ON2007 + suggestion

Took some notes earlier today, just went to check them & the pages are
blank except for the message:

"This page was added by another user and has not yet been fully synced.
The page content will be available after it has been synced."

These are 5 subpages, the top-level page is accessible. I wasn't
involved in a sharing session when I took the notes, they were entered
by me. Pretty much all menu options are grayed out on those pages. Any
ideas how I can get access to those pages?

Also, you might want to allow some way to "break out" some notes that
are waiting to be synced. If I have 2 machines & 1 dies, blocking
access to the 1 existing set of notes for a sync that then can't happen
- that would be pretty frustrating.

Thanks!

No, same machine. HP TC4200 tablet PC. several pages were text,
serveral were handwriting, couple mixed, one included a mindmap I
created in Mindmanager & printed to Onenote. The tablet had been put in
standby mode between the original notes session & the subsequent
problem. There were no error messages.

It's probably a cache issue. Or something.

Did the notes reappear eventually when the syncing finished?

no they haven't - there isn't another user or machine to sync to.

Not only have I not synced to another machine or user with the notes in
question - but I haven't synced '07 with anything yet. I have gotten a
syncing message (sorry, didn't get the message text, and it hasn't
appeared again yet), but I just assumed it was doing "housework" upon
exiting.

Is there a way to "clear the cache" or something? How can I clear this
condition? It would appear I can't create something to sync to after
the fact - are these notes just locked forever?

Hi SD,

Can you go on the section that has the problem and press F9 and wait a
bit. Does anything happen then?

There is a way to clear the cache, but I would assume that you'll lose
any content on these pages. To do it, go to your Documents and
Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\OneNote\12.0
and rename the file OneNotOfflineCache.onecache into something else.
Please don't delete the file as Microsoft want a copy of it to determine
what happened. Also, please make a copy of your .one files too. You
should go on Connect and file a bug on this. Whatever happened, it is
important to figure out what happened and make sure MS can fix this.

Thanks,

Patrick Schmid

SD. Could you do us a big favor. You've hit a bug that we'd VERY much like
to learn more about and fix. Congratulations :) .
Given you haven't been syncing with any other machine you should not be
seeing what you're seeing at all, and it's possibly due to section file
corruption or cache corruption.

If you'd be willing to share the section file that has this problem could
you send it to us? We might also want to look at your cache file depending
on what we find in the section file. So if you rename the cache file as
Patrick suggests can you keep a copy of it around until after we've looked
at the cache file. We're very discrete, but if you have sensitive
information you don't want to send to us we understand. On the plus side, we
may be able to recover your last pages depending on the state of the file
(no guarantees).

If you're willing to do this, you could start by just sending me the
relevant section file (should be able to work out my email address, just
remove the "nospam" that's inserted to dodge spam bots that trawl
newsgroups).

Thanks!
