Lost 8 months of emails

Is there a way to recover lost emails in OE 6? Tonight when I opened
Outlook, suddenly the last 8 months worth of emails had disappeared. I
desperately need to recover these, but don't know what to do/what happened.
I did not do any upgrades, change any profiles - nothing. Just opened it up
and they were gone. Thanks for any help!
