Lost a Folder - HELP !

J

Jan Groshan

Don't know how it happened, but I had a folder in my personal folders called
"Travel" where all my travel-related email was directed and now it's gone!
Can I retrieve the folder somewhere ? (Outlook 2007 - Windows XP Pro)

Open the folders which are around your missing folder. It happens
sometimes that a folder is moved to another by drag-n-dropping
accidentally.

Tried that....without success....

No, it wasn't in the deleted items folder....but I also have the program set
to empty the deleted items on exit. I'm not on an exchange server. Am I
s-o-l ?

Consider the possibility that you may have accidentally dragged it to
some other folder, and it's now a subfolder of that folder. If you
look around, you may find it.

If you use advanced find and use a word or message subject as the search
term, do you get any hits?

Then it sounds like your folder is permanently gone. Of course, you make regular backups, right? ;)

Since you've already tried all of the obvious stuff...is it possible
that it was part of another PST file and that you've closed that file?
Have you searched your hard drive for *.PST (Make sure to include hidden
folders) to see if there are add'l PST files on your system?

Also, I think you're learning the value of backups. :( Sorry!

I got so freaked when I discovered the file was lost I did a back-up of the
remaining files and over-wrote the older back-up...dumb, I know ! Anyway, if
I had restored the older back-up, I would have lost my more recent emails
so, in retrospect, thank goodness it wasn't a folder that contained things I
didn't have hard copies of.
