lost contacts fille

I had a contacts file with about 200 names entered and a
few weeks ago it just disappeared. I still haven't got
over the shock completely but I am about to set it up
again. Any ideas on reconstructing the old file? If I
make a new file, I will obviously worry more about
backups but where does the contact list file appear in
the explorer program/files listing?
