Hi

I was editing a file and deleted some data, saved the spreadsheet and forgot to change the name of the file. I then closed the file.

Question - If I have done nothing else to the file can I get the deleted data back if I open it again?

Thanks

No. XL doesn't store any UnDo information after a save. Your only option
is to restore the info from a backup (you do have one, right?)

If you don't have a backup, you're probably out of luck.

However, that may motivate you to save files with automatic backups. In
the Save As dialog, click Options, and check the 'Always create backup'
checkbox.

if you save your default workbook template using that option (e.g., save
it as a template, named "Workbook" - no quotes, no extension - in your
Startup folder, which by default is the

HD:Applications:Microsoft Office 2008:Office:Startup:Excel:

folder), all new workbooks will be created with that option set.
