Lost Document in Word 2000

I was typing out a paper on Word 2000 and my computer lagged for a moment. I
minimized the window and walked away from the computer. When I came back, the
window had shut down.
I tried reopening Word after that, but it just opened "Document 2".
This happened in the past and the window reopened after a while, but it has
been nearly a day and it hasn't recovered the document as of yet.

If you had not saved the document prior to the incident, it will probably
now be lost. You can look in the temp files folder and see if there is still
a temp file that you may rescue. Once you are sure that there is nothing to
be rescued, make sure that with all applications closed the temp folder is
empty by deleting all the contents. When you reopen Word, it should display
Document 1 again.
