Hi Marcia:
Rob is right. The password is not stored "anywhere", either on your
computer or in the document.
The password is the encryption key with which the content of the document
was scrambled. If the password is correct, Word can read the document, if
not, it can't.
As Rob says, if you feel really comfortable giving your credit card number
to someone who cracks encryption for a living, you will find a lot of them
on the Internet.
Try to choose one that offers no fee if no success, the encryption is quite
strong, most companies can't crack the new formats, even though they claim
to be able to do so.
Cheers
Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel
I lost the passwords to 3 documents that I want to open. Is there a way to do
this or a location on my computer where the passwords are stored for MS Word
documents? Thanks.
