I had the standard default "personal folders" for all my email accounts to
write to (one common one). I made a new "personal folder" for my business
email and hoped to get Outlook to deposit my business account email there,
while depositing all my personal email in my original folder. After creating
my new business personal folder, I copied all my email off my work server and
put them in my business personal folder. I then went into tools->email
accounts->modify and picked my business personal folder and then under the
"deliver new email to the following location" also chose my business personal
folder (naively thinking this would only deliver new email from the account I
chose above into this account). After doing this, all email when to this new
personal folder, and worse, all the email I had previously downloaded from my
work server and stored in this personal folder is now gone. Is there anyway
to recover it? I haven't changed anything in fear I may do something worse
and never be able to recover the lost messages.
