LOST EVERYTHING IN ONENOTE HELP!

As soon as I installed SERVICE PAK TWO for Microsoft Office 2003
Professional, I lost ALL MY INFORMATION IN ONENOTE, plust in the "My
Documents" folder, I'm missing a lot of folders. I DID NOTHING TO THE
REGISTRY EITHER. I tried a system restore too and that didn't work.

Please help with any advice. Lost even my backups. UNBELIEVABLE THAT
MICROSOFT WOULD DO THIS. PLEASE HELP WITH ANY THOUGHTS...

I don't MS actually did this intentionally.

Easiest thing to do is to go :

start>>search>>

and search for *.one

that will bring up a list of all your onenote files. installing service pack
two will not have changed anything about your files - but I bet there have
been a change to the location in onenote preferences - you need to find your
..one files and then change the location in the preferences again ?

ugh.. such wrong use of system restore.
Anyway, if it actually got deleted... you can use Active Undelete demo to
undelete it. I think most of the files in onenote are small enough that,
that undelete demo should be able to restore it.

David's suggestion of searching for .one files will help you establish
which OneNote files you still have.

If you have genuinely lost files, it's a hard way to learn the lesson
of making backups to CD or some other location other than your main
hard disk.

Hard disks fail despite their high reliability. Things go wrong in
software.

Anybody who has any valuable data in any program, including OneNote,
should have a plan to make backups AND put the plan into action.

If your business depends on data, then make off-site backups too.
