Lost Font

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel John and all, clicked on the "Reply to this message" line and nothing happened, so I hope this works.
I removed the Office Cache (12) file, emptied trash and shut down and restarted. No change and I noticed that 3 files (fonts) that I deleted earlier still showed up in the trash, which I emptied again and shut down and restarted again. The trash is now empty, but Arial still does not show up. I did change my default file to Arial Narrow earlier today, FYI, and it is still selected as my default.
Any more ideas?
Lynne

My next suggestion is to use Font Book to validate all your fonts.

See here:
http://www.apple.com/pro/tips/badfonts.html

Once you have gotten rid of any red ones (and removed any yellow ones to a
folder on the desktop), I would then download and run OnyX

http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/system_disk_utilities/onyx.html

Finding instructions on how to use OnyX is very difficult.

This is the best tutorial I have found:
http://www.switchingtomac.com/tutorials/keep-your-mac-running-smoothly-with-
onyx/

My suggestion is "Read that tutorial but don't DO anything; until you come
to Step 33. Step 33 shows you how to use the Automation tab to perform all
the cleanup tasks in a single step.

Click "Execute", and wait.

When it finishes, IMMEDIATELY shut down, power off, and restart, before any
other application has a chance to undo all the good work.

Notice we keep suggesting that you "power off and restart"? When Mac OS
starts after a power-off shut-down, it runs a set of clean-up tasks that are
important for good system health. These tasks are also important for
recovering from font problems.

Hope this helps

Downloaded OnyX and preparing to read the tutorial. Grandchildren here for the weekend, so no work until Sunday night. Will keep you posted. Thanks. Lynne
