lost fonts after automatic updates

Microsoft issued a string of security updates last Friday, and after
installing them, I noticed all my fonts were gone except a few basic ones.
When I first installed Windows XP Pro SP2 and Office 2003, these
installations put about 200-300 fonts on my system. Now they are all gone.

The same thing happened when the updates loaded on my wife's system and my 2
boys' systems, all configured the same.

This is the 2nd consecutive automatic update that has caused major issues
with my computer (the last one set CISVC.EXE to index constantly and locked
my clock so it could not hold the adjustment for DST). Those errors turned
out to be nothing more than careless mistakes by whoever wrote the install
scripts, but now this. I've actually lost all my fonts.

Anyone have any ideas on where they went or how we can go back and
re-download the Microsoft font libraries without having to re-install XP and
Office?

Thanks

In Windows, click on Start | Control Panel | Printers and Faxes. If the
default printer is None, Generic/TextOnly, or Fax, then change the
default printer to one that is capable of printing fonts, and you will
see more choices in Word.

No, that is not the situation here. The default printer is an HP Laserjet
3015 as it was before the updates.
