Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Intel somehow i have lost all but 6 of my fonts - i was trying to install an aussie fonts CD (which failed) and without realising it deleted most of my fonts already there - now i cannot reinstall the aussie fonts or locate the lost fonts - when i go into applications, then library, then fonts, all the fonts are there in the next column but not highlighted and i cannot open them - the only option is cancel , i know it is obviously something i have done , can anyone help me out of this mess? thanks in anticipation, cheers rob

I'm struggling a bit to know what you are doing. What application are you
using to "look"?

An Install Dialog won't allow you to select or open anything on the Mac:
it's "look-only".

If you use Finder to look in the same place, you may get a different result,
and discover that you no longer have a problem.

Any fonts on your system should be in Library/Fonts (not
"Application/Library/Fonts"). If somehow you have dragged your fonts folder
into "Applications", drag it back up into "Library" and they'll all spring
back to life again.

Hope this helps

.... And if you use the Font Book app (supplied with OS X) it takes all the
guesswork out of what fonts you have & where they are stored.

thanks guys for your prompt responses BUT when i take the pathway you suggested only one font (#Gungseo) comes up in Font Book - no others there not even the 6 that i still have when I open Word.

However when i click on the Apple icon then Recent items then under documents (not highlighted) to Fonts it comes up on a new window as

Mac HD - Library - Fonts - then all the glorious fonts are there but i don't know how to access them and get them back into Word - when i double click any font there it comes up in a window and states it is not installed - i assume i have to click the Install Now button and then do the same for each and every 144 fonts - will this do the trick ?? thanks for your patience with me !!! cheers, Rob

I did :)

There are two possible issues:

One is that you have moved the Font folder where the system can't find it.

Move it back where it is supposed to be, then reboot and OS X will put
everything right for you.

The other possibility is that you have not moved the fonts anywhere, but you
have "Disabled" them all in Word. Start FontBook and look in the Help under
"Disable/Enable" fonts for instructions on how to re-enable them all.

Once you have corrected the issue, you will need to do a power-off reboot to
clean out the font caches before Word will see the changes.

Cheers
