Lost formatting

I've had a weird experience several times with spreadsheets
that suddenly opened with $4.00 reading 400. Nothing I could
do would bring back the formatting. Also, all decimal places
were lost.
SOLUTION:
Restart the computer. Everything comes up roses.
This is not supposed to happen in OS X.

You're right, it's weird. If you can reproduce it, be sure to post
