lost functionality to hold key down and cause repeating

Don't know if the functionality I somehow lost is
called "repeat keystrokes" or not, but I can no longer
hold a key down to cause the curser to move across a line
in a document or letter. Same is true to move the page
up or down holding down the left button of my Logitech
trackball with the slide bar at the right side of all
Word documents. Help! Can anybody e-mail me how to
recover this functionality?

This is not really a Word question. Sounds like you have hardware (or
hardware driver) issues.
