Good Afternoon,
I have a question regarding Deleting Completed Tasks from Timesheets:
We are using the timesheet functionality and wanted to remove completed
tasks because users would charge time to tasks that were marked complete.
Your MS Project Experts website recommended the clean up project server
database option below:
Resolution for Project Server Administrators
To completely remove completed tasks from the Project Server database, the
Project Server administrator can do so easily by completing the following
steps:
1. Log into PWA with administrator permissions
2. Click Admin - Clean up Project Server database
3. Select the Tasks option
4. Click the Delete drop-down list and select Only completed task
assignments from the list
5. Select the drop-down list on the right and select the desired deletion
option
6. At the bottom of the page, select whether to delete completed tasks for
all resources or a single resource
7. Click the Delete button
We tested this option on two users, found both of the users performed with
expected results. When we applied this to the entire project community of
184 users, some users complained that they could not see tasks that were not
completed.
As a result of this question, I did some digging and I found that this team
members hours were missing from PWA for three weeks in the adjust actuals
view of PWA. The same result in View resource assignments. That time period
has been closed for over a week. I know this loss of hours is likely due to
the above process being implemented because I ran the OLAP cube yesterday at
930am and this persons hours are showing for the same three week period.
That means the problem resulted after deleting only completed tasks.
I tried to republish assignments for this user, tried to republish the
project. No luck. I synchronized sharepoint services as well. No luck.
I am at a loss, short of restoring files to Tuesday 930am, I am not sure
what else to do? Do you have any advice?
