Lost Kitty Cat--Office Assistant Not Responding

My Office Assistant has stopped working. Everything worked fine till last
week. Besides reinstalling MS Office, I've also tried System Restore to a
date when the OA was still working. No dice. I'm on Windows XP Pro with
Office 2003 Pro.

When I toggle the show/hide button, sometimes the OA will flash for an
instant, but then it disappears. I use the little cat as my OA, and I have
grown quite accustomed to having my office "pet" curled up and sleeping in
the corner of my screen, so now I miss him! Hope someone can suggest a
solution soon.

Thanks so much for responding, Paul. Yes, I tried Detect & Repair even before
doing the Reinstall of Office...thus, I've done Detect & Repair,
Reinstallation of Office, and System Restore, all without a solution.

Everything else seems to be running optimally, so what could make just that
one element of Office disappear? My guess would be a corrupted file, but
wouldn't the Reinstall have fixed that?

Thanks again!

A reinstall may or may not fix the problem if it is registry related
problem, which it sounds like may be the cause of the problem. Do you have
any software to clean or repair the registry?

No, I don't believe I have anything to fix problems in my registry. Does
Microsoft offer something like that online?

I visited the MS Agent sites and successfully (I thought) downloaded Agent,
Peedy, and sound, but afterward, nothing happened. I couldn't locate anything
on the desktop, in my program files, or anywhere. Did I do something wrong?

Thanks for your help.
