I've been using Entourage to check mail on a CommuniGate Pro mail server
and all has been well. Recently switched to a mail account on a cPanel
server, and when using IMAP, I get lots of "Lost mailbox lock" error
messages. This happens when simply switching from one IMAP message to
another, or when switching between folders on the server.
This is apparently a known bug in Entourage with some mail servers, and I
found this FAQ page about it:
https://engineering.purdue.edu/ECN/Resources/KnowledgeBase/Docs/200305271453

I tried the suggested Entourage fix there -- turning off "Send
simultaneous commands to mail server" but it made no difference - the
problem persists.
In this situation, I control both the mail server and the client , so
suggestions as to what I can try on the mail server (IMAP handled by cpimap)
or in Entourage (so I can make recommendations to my Entourage-using
clients) are welcome.
I'm seeing this problem both in Office X and in Office 2004. I cannot
duplicate the problem with Thunderbird, AppleMail, or any mail client on
Linux (I haven't tried Outlook yet). Seems to be localized to Entourage/Mac.
Thanks for any suggestions,
Scot
