Lost menu bar and toolbar

My word 2000 program is unusable because the menu bar and
toolbar have disappeared (perhaps because I switched off
while in 'print preview' but I don't know). Recommended
keyboard solutions get no response, and since I can't
access any of the menus, I'm completely stumped. Needless
to say I'm a complete no-hoper in pc land. Any help very
gratefully received.
