lost messages

Exchange 2000 Server
Entourage 10.1.5, IMAP
OSX 10.2.8
G4 1.0 GHz MP

Six messages (all with identical subject lines) were received Friday.
(The first was unread, other five were read.) I moved them into a
newly-created folder on the server. One more came in that day with same
subject line.

On Sunday two more arrived and I transferred them to the same folder.
Opened the folder and the first six were no longer visible. The last
message of Friday was still visible, as were the two from Sunday.

The unread message is still triggering Entourage to mark the folder as
having an unread message.

When I look at the folder contents in Outlook on my PC, all messages are
visible.

Entourage FAQ #46 says to check for Views > Unread Only and Views >
Flagged Only. I toggled both of these, with no effect. Also toggled both
Views > Threaded and Views > Refresh Message List, but those did not
help either.

I rebuilt the database (Simple Rebuild) but that did not help.

I have other folders exhibiting this behavior.

Does anybody know why this is happening.

Is there some remedy that will work, i.e. restore the visibility of all
messages in the folder?

TIA,

DOD

When you have the folder open, press Option-Command-L. That forces
Entourage to start a full refresh of the IMAP folder. It usually brings
back the missing messages.

Mickey, thanks for the reply.
I was reluctant to do a full rebuild immediately as I don't yet know how
to do a mass-resubscribe of folders.

Several days later the messages were just there. That is, they
spontaneously reappeared*. I hate it when spontaneity happens in
computers... ;-)

*Note that there were gone both in Entourage and Outlook on my Windows
box. And then they reappeared in both. Weird.
