lost password to password-protected personal folder

My assistant sent me a password-protected .pst file that opens without
requiring entry of a password on her computer. However, a password is
required to open the file on my computer. Is there a way for her to retrieve
the lost password on her computer? If not, is there a way to transfer the
data to another, non-password protected .pst file?

Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

There is a handy tool to strip the password of a pst-file. The funny thing is
that this tool wasn't even written for stripping the password of a pst-file
but for upgrading the pst-file to a newer format. Stripping the password was
just a (handy) side effect. Don't use this tool for any illegal activities!!!

Read the pstread.txt file included in the zip before using the utility!

Kathleen,
Thanks so much for your helpful reply.

I downloaded and tried to install the application you recommended. But when
I left-clicked on the .exe file to open it, a screen momentarily displayed,
then closed. I tried entering the command "PST19UPG -x filename.pst" in the
Run field (accessed from the Start menu), and that didn't work.

I wonder what I'm missing??

Thanks again for your prompt and helpeful reply!

I have another question with which you may be able to help , if you're
willing to take the time and effort:

I have a corrupted .pst file (containing vital data), which scanpst.exe and
another repair utility, EasyRecovery Professional, would not fix.
Unfortunately, I do not have a another copy of this corrupted file.

Is there another way to recover the data? What application or service would
you recommend?

I appreciate your help.
