We have a company word document (contract of employment)
that was password protected by a previous employee who
has now retired and we want to update the document
We have contacted him but he does not remember as it was
several year ago when he saved the document
Is there any way to access this word file

If it's just protected for forms, you can remove the protection by using
Insert | File to insert it in a new blank document.
