Is there any ways we can figure out the lost password in
Access 97 , the person who developed the S/W using Access
and VB 6.0 has left the company now we need to make some
changes in the application but can't access our database
because of password.

Not meaning to sound pessimistic, but you're pretty much
screwed. I would suggest you contact this person and try
and get the password from them.

There's really no easy solution to bypass the security.
You may have to contact Microsoft directly, or contact a
firm that are dedicated to security management with Access
databases.

There's perhaps one thing you could try. You could create
a new database, and import all the objects from the
secured database to the new one. Don't know for sure if
that will work, but it's worth a try.

That won't work if it's a user-level password.

But since the original poster hasn't replied, I guess we will never know!

I found code to open an Access97 password protected file at
http://www.4tops.com/ms_access_tips/clracc8p.htm.



I had to change it to a function to make it work, but work it does! The
database was no longer password protected and opened right up.
