Lost Product Key

Arnold

I lost my product key for office XP. I have the original
discs but not the product key. It was installed and
running fine on my compaq laptop when bought new from
Best Buy, but I had to use restore disc on the laptop and
reinstall all my programs.

Can you help?

Gyorgy Moldova [MCSE, MVP]

contact Best Buy to get a replacement. (If it is an OEM copy, which I
assume.)

Not very good advice! He is not going to get any help from Best Buy outside
of the 14 day return period. If it is OEM you know very well that Best Buy
is not going to help him but refer him to the manufacturer.

Then he should contact Compaq. And why should Gyorgy "know very well"?
Please remember that just because he's an MVP, doesn't mean he's a Yank -
he's somewhere in Eastern Europe (I'm not entirely sure whether Moldova is
his surname or whether it should be Gyorgy, Moldova). He knows nothing of
Best Buy - we don't have them in Europe.

I see you're another myopic Yank who thinks the world ends at the edges of
the North American land mass.

I suppose myopic is better than being a anti-American twit. By the way, any
Office expert, which you obviously are not, despite your snobbery, would know
OEM software is supported by the manufacturer, Compaq, not MS. Or are you
too much of a clown to know what Compaq is?

1) Where on earth did you get the impression I was anti-American?! My
second cousins are American, my mother's penfriend is American, some of my
best friends are American. I am just sick and tired of the many Americans
who appear to think that theirs is the only country on Earth. I read
somewhere that 90% of American children didn't know where Canada was - it
might have been a joke, but there's a point.

2) You should learn to read. The first line of my post was "then he
should contact Compaq" - 'he' being Arnold, not Gyorgy. I have more
knowledge in my little toenail than you have, period.

3) Anyone who posts to Usenet with a valid address (as yours appears to
be) doesn't really have a leg to stand on - /now/ who's the twit?!

Now, put up - or apologise and shut up.

I'll accept your last message as an apology or as close as you can come to
one and I accept it.

Huh?! I wasn't apologising - *I* don't have anything to apologise for! You
were the one who insulted me! If you cannot - or will not - admit you were
wrong and apologise *TO ME* then you're more pathetic than I at first
thought.

You don't give up when you lose an argument do you?....well that is okay. I
bet when you took your amateur computing class you thought you were so
bright the teacher called you *sonny* -- no need waste the group's time. You
can email me your response : ) .....
