Lost tab function in outlines and bullets.

I have lost the ability to use the tab key to advance
bullets and numbering to the next level. Does anyone
know how to fix this?

In Word 2002:

Tools > Autocorrect Options > Autoformat as you type.

Check 'Set first and left indent with tab and backspace'.

Note that although this (rather surprisingly) means that the tab key will
change level on most items in the list, if you tab on the very first item of
a list you may change the indent of the style.
