Lost Templates

For some strange reason Word has been storing my templates in a strange file. This file was something like this: users/ron.../.trash/microsoft office 2004 test drive/templates/mytemplates. When I clicked the restore defaults button on the customize page of Project Gallery these .dot files have disappeared from my computer, along with the "user" directory under the MacHD. I have tried Time Machine to restore them but there is no sign of all of my templates. The folders Templates and My templates are in the Office directory but have no files in them. Any ideas where they went?

Well, my first question would be "Who are you logged in as"?

If the "Users" folder has disappeared, that suggests that you have not
actually logged in to the machine at all

Who has been playing with that machine other than you?

You say you are in Office 2004, yet you say your templates were being stored
in the Test Drive folder? If you installed Office 2004 and told it to
"Remove" the Test Drive, that's what it would do -- including your
templates...
