Lost Toolbars in Word 2000

Hi,

A mate of mine has Word 2000 on his win2K machine that recently stopped
displaying the toolbars. Ctrl key shortcuts still work, but can't seem to
be able to turn toolbars back on.

Have uninstalled and reinstalled, - no change.
Deleted normal.dot, - no change.

Help would be appreciated.
