I have a web page developed in publisher, it is saved on my hard drive. I do
have a back up disk but I am wondering why this happened. I saved my site
after updating it and got a message unfortunately I did not read it carefully
and now I can not find my site. Any ideas or why. The message said something
like memory full and it would be saved mydocs......

Dear Karla,

Although it is not clear to me what you are asking for, here are a few
random thoughts:

--You need to always save your Publisher document as a Publisher document,
even after you've saved it as a web page, since you can't edit the HTML code
when you want to make changes in the future.

--You need to copy the Publisher file to a local hardrive from any other
sort of media (USB drive, writeable CD or DVD, etc.), then open it and work
on it. Don't use optical media, especially, the same way you use a hard drive.

--You need to make a note of the folder where Publisher is saving the web
page so you know where to find the HTML code.

--You can probably search for the site components using Windows search.
There will be files similar to "index.html," as well as image files (JPG,
GIF, etc.).

I hope that something here helps you.

Bruce,
Thanks for the reply after reading my post ya I didnt make any sense. I have
had this page for several years. I do have it saved on a disc, but also on my
hard drive as a publisher doc. After updating it a few days ago when I saved
it I got an error message and it has vanished. I am just wonering why and how
can I prevent this in the future. Sorry I am really a novice at all of this
and I dont know what optical media is, only what common sence would tell me
but ........... I have tried to find it with several programs including
windows search but no luck.

since we don't know what the error msg was we'll never know...unless you try
it again and get a msg again.

I could guess that if it was a file you had saved on a CD it could be in
Read Only mode and your changes didn't actually get saved?...total guess.

I have gotten the message again it reads
"due to low memory or use of a floppy other than the one you started with
publisher had to rename your publication C:\documents and settings\my
documents\index.html.pub to resume close all programs including publisher
then restart publisher and open the file. You may then rename the
publication."

Now I can not find the file at all not sure what to do or why my memory is
low. How can I fix this?

Thank you so so much for all of the great info and links I really do
appreciate it. I have had this web page for about five years and did not know
I was saving it incorrectly on my hard drive and now I know. I still can not
find it but I did have it backed up on a disk. I just didn't know why that
would happen after all this time. I am using Publisher 2003 sorry I should
have included that information. Thank you to Bruce and Rob as well.

Karla,

I am glad you found the information helpful, as it is really hard for us to
look over your shoulder and see precisely what you are doing. Sometimes the
best we can do is offer some general comments and hope they will lead to an
individual solution.
