lost whole report!

I was just finishing a very long report and my nail hit the "n" and I guess
at the same time I hit Ctrl, thus leaving the page I was proofreading and it
went to a blank page. Now, usually when this happens, on the bottom of the
page will be listed the report title that I'm working on and then I just
click that and I get back the page I was working on.

I was working on my new Vista laptop, but still with Word 2003, and there
was nothing at the bottom to get me back to my report. I can't find it
anywhere. The REcycle Bin is empty. Where did it go? I don't know what to
do and it's due first thing tomorrow. It's not even in the file that I saved
it in, just the blank page with the N on it. I saved this report at least a
million times while typing it because it's so urgent.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It may be too late, but I suspect a Control Z (UnDo) would have undone
the damage if you did that right away, If the file still on your machine and
you did not close it and reopen it, it might still work. It may be gone
now.

In addition to Joseph's suggestion, you may be able to recover a previously
saved version depending on which version of Vista you are using. Try
right-clicking the file (you said you had saved it a few times, right?) ->
restore previous versions. I think you may only get this with Vista Ultimate
but can't quite remember.
