Lost Word document on G Drive - is there a way to open it on C Dri

Hi
I'm using Vista Business and saved a Word 2003 document on a SanDisk USB
before Christmas but when I switched on my laptop to retrieve it today i
couldn't find it on the disk. I am sure I would have also saved a copy on my
C Drive, as I usually do but couldn't find it there either. I have searched
all files for keywords but it's not to be found. The only hope was that in MS
Word it was still available in the most recent files. But when I clicked on
the link, it said it couldn't find the path (G:/Documents...) as G is the USB
and the document name isn't on there anymore. The computer is new so I hadn't
set up the System Restore yet for the document to be on the C Drive.
I tried the Shadow Copy - it finds three previous versions but when I click
Restore it restores them on the G:\...path but then if I try to access that
on the G drive it tells me it can't find it.
I am coming to the realisation that my document appears to be lost in the
ether but is there any way of clicking on that link in the most recent files
and then opening it on the C Drive? Thanks.

If the file isn't on your flash drive, it sounds like you are out of luck.
Never save directly to removeable media. Save it to your hard drive first
then copy it over in Windows Explorer.

I assume you've tried searching that flash drive?

Hi

Yes I've searched that. I usually always do save to C and then back up to
removeable at the end of the day, which is why I don't understand how I've
lost it. Anyway, now I've learned all about Vista's new Back Up system, I'll
be sure to use it!!

Thanks very much.
