Lost Word document

I created a new word document and typed up 9 pages without
saving it and then lost it. It's not in the recycle bin
and I've tried restoring my system to an earlier time this
evening without success. Can you advise please whether
there is anything I can do to get this document back as it
entailed a great deal of work.

It happened to me too a number of times and on one
occasions it amounted to a number of pages. My question
is: why word cannot save automatically every few minutes?
