Losy my 25 digit code ....

Desperado

I lost my 25 digit code from my Office 2003 Student and Teacher edition. It
was a sticker on the inside of the large plastic CD case. I still have the CD
and the box that has a label that looks like it has some valuable information
on it. What can I do to get another PID (I guess that's what the 25 digit
code is)?

That 25 characdter code to activate office is not a PID--it's a product key.
MSFT has confused people for years with the two numbers. Either and you did
not say that Office is on the box or not. On the box you can retrieve
easily. Off the box call 'em.

Desperado

Ok, I am more confused than ever. I called Microsoft at an 800 number and
after setting on hold for almost an hour I was all of sudden in Pakistan. I
don't speak pakistonian nor do I understand a word this said. I put the phone
on speaker and called my g/f to help me understand this guy and I swear
neither one of us could understand him enough to finalize the transaction. I
know at one time he said something about $35 and another time he said
something about $10. Against my g/fs warning I gave him my credit card
number. When he came back and wanted me to repeat everything all over again
because my c/c didn't go thru I knew I had more than $10 in my c/c account so
I immedialtely thanked him and hung up. Back to the newsgroups .... Here is
exactly what I have: (1) A 1/2"x1 7/8" sticker on the back of the CD box
(which is an oversize CD box about 6"x8") that says: CD SET: X09-57993. (2) A
box that the CD case and other advertisement came in. On the top of that box
is a label that is 1 3/4" x 4 1/4". It has numbers and letters arranged as
thus:

Left Side:
503-0xxxx
PO 4400xxxxxx LINE 6
WO 0127xx-xxxx-xx TEAM: SCLA
STDNT LIC DSKTP 2003 WIN32 ENGLISH
MADE IN USA (PUERTO RICO)
FOR DISTRIBUTION IN US/CANADA ONLY

Right Side:
999xx-xxx-60x-xxx
BARCODE
UPC BARCODE
8 055529 43878 1

To the left of the label it says "This label indicates that the package
contains genuine Microsoft product...."

I got this from Office Depot a while ago and I never ended using it because
my laptop I bought shortly after that came with Office 2003 Pro. I want to
give this to my brother for his family but I want to make sure it is legal
for him. I know I have never registered it because I never used it. There
appears to be a gummy spot on the plastic CD case where my kids may have
pulled a sticker from.

Thanks,
Clay
