I have a report that prompts a dialog box when opened. The box has a
address of e.lotus.Notes.Data, yet the report is not being opene
through Lotus Notes.

The report is sent to other users through Lotus Notes. The only wa
through the box is to click cancel twice. I would like to eliminat
the box, but am unfamilar

here's a blind man's version:

FILE NOT FOUND : In Blue Bar OK

Look in: e.lotus.Notes.Data
Cancel

In directory lists report.

File Name: Report 1.
Files of Type: Worksheet.

I checked to see if Lotus Notes was apart of the workbooks code, bu
its not.

So I'm not sure why when you send a Workbook as an Attachement in Lotu
Notes that it pulls up this Directory Box, and why it stays embedde
with the file even after being detached

OK, my assumption is that you use lotus notes for email...someone sent you
an email with an excel attachment, and you have chosen to open that
attachment without first saving the excel file to your PC. if my
assumption(s) are accurate, then try this:

1. save the attachment from the email to your c: drive. remember where you
detached it to.

2. navigate to where you detached the file, double-click it and it should
open like any other excel file.
(other excel files open fine, right?)

3. if it opened as you expected, i'd reinstall lotus notes and try again.
make sure you install
lotus notes to a new location and rename c:\windows\notes.ini to
c:\windows\notes.old

4. email back if this still fails, the next step is file association
repair...meaning the .xls extension
might not be linked to excel.exe anymore. but since your initial complaint
wasn't that you can't open
any excel files when you click them, i'm assuming that excel file
associations are fine, and lotus notes
is the first place to look.

let me know how it goes...
