Custom views are one of my top five favorite features of Outlook. What I've
never understood is the lack of a readily displayed count of filtered items.
Outlook shows only 'filter applied' and the total number of items (in the
lower left corner) and offers no easy way to display the number of items in
the view. If I group the view I get the number in the group (not useful in
certain view types, and still does not display the total number of items in
the whole view). I can write VBA for a specific view (not simple) to count
the items. I can even select all of the items and press "Delete" (assuming
it's more than, I think 25 items, it will tell me how many items I'm about
to delete) - kind of an absurd way to go about that. The feature should
have been there 3 versions ago and I am surprised it remains absent in
Outlook 2007.
