Low resourses error when I try to start word

All of a sudden I cannot open microsoft word (in office
2000) on my system. Regardless of the size of document.
When I try to start word I just get the hour glass. When
I get tired of waiting and ctl+alt+del to close word that
is not responding, I get "System is dangerously low or
resourses" message and "winword (not responding).
I have run every system tool I can find and everything
indicates I have plenty of memory and resourses.
Any suggestions?
Gary

Close Word. Find and delete normal.dot. Reopen Word and the problem should
have disappeared. If not, please post back.
