Check in Tools/Options/View whether "Picture placeholder"
has been activated. If it has, turn it off and you should
be OK?

Hi - Thanks but this was turned off (not ticked) - I have
shown below the formula entered into the word document and
the result - hope this helps ?? I am using Excel 97 as the
database:

Formual:
{INCLUDEPICTURE "C:\\Documents and
settings\\RKING\\Desktop\\test\\{MERGEFIELD Photo}"}

Results in:
Error! Filename not specified.
The spreadsheet, the word document and the images are all
store in the same folder "test"

My spreadsheet looks like :

Name Description Price Photo
Bell Alarm Clock 25 Chubb.jpg
candle Holder Holds candles 35 tank blaze.tif
Cash Box with lid 45 C:\\Documents
and Settings\\RKING\\Desktop\\test\\Chubb.jpg

As you can see, I have tried it with just a file name and
also with a path - still does work for me

Hellllllllppppppppppppp!!

Hi Ray,

It would be very helpful if you use REPLY to the existing
discussion ("thread"), so that we can keep track of the
entire conversation.

I want to take a few steps backwards, to try to find out at
exactly what point the problem is occurring.

Position the cursor at the end of your mail merge document
(or a copy!) and use Insert/Picture/From File to choose one
of these jpg you want to use in the merge. Activate the
option to link it in.

Do you see the picture?

If you press Alt+F9, do you see the IncludePicture field
code? (If not, remove the "float over text" formatting, then
try again.) Compare this IncludePicture field with the one
you tried to create. Do you see any substantial differences?

Now, delete the merge field from that IncludePicture field
and type in the file name, instead. F9, Alt+F9: do you see
the picture?

If yes, delete the file name and use the Insert Mergefield
button to re-insert the merge field. F9, Alt+F9: do you see a
picture, now?
