Mac Excel 98, Num Lock Key doesn't work

Using a Macintosh with Excel 98 loaded:
The number keypad on the keyboard does not work. The Num
Lock key doesn't seem to work. The keys behave like
navigational keys, moving to different cells in the
worksheet when pressed.

Any ideas?
