Mac excel

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: intel

How to:
1. To put a string ($ sign) in formula so that stringed cells will stay fix when the formula is copied to other cell
2. Apparently to hit delete did not clear the content of cell so have to do right click and 'clear contents'. Is there any faster short key?

Thanks

Just type it. =$A$1 will correctly keep the A1 value as you
copy'n'paste or stretch it around.

Are you using a laptop? The key labelled "delete" in the top right is
equivalent to a Windows "Backspace" and does not clear a cell.

You need to use the equivalent to the Windows "Delete" key, which is
fn-delete. On an external keyboard the "delete[x>" key in the block
between the main keypad and the number pad, same as on a PC.

Hi Paulina -

Re #! - if you're looking for an equivalent to Win Excel's F4 use Command+T,
otherwise just type the $.

Re #2 - It varies depending on the keyboard, but full size Mac keyboards
have 2 delete keys: the one labeled "delete" removes content & puts you into
Edit Mode, the one labeled "del" clears content only (and doesn't remove
formatting or Comments). On a laptop "delete" & fn+delete provide the same
respective operations. You can also use Control+B to Clear All, as well as
going through Tools> Customize Keyboard to assign your own keystrokes.
