Mac Newbi having problems with Word98 Mac edition!!!

I am new to the Mac and am having trouble with Microsoft Word98 Mac
edition. I am using Mac OSX 10.35 i have installed the german keyboard
layout in the settings however they do not appear when i go to Word98.
They do however appear in text edit!!! So my problem does not lie
there. I have found little info on this topic however it looks as
though i will need to install some kind of special language pack. Can
someone point me in the right direction please!!

I'm thinking that the German keyboard settings are for OS X, and perhaps it
doesn't carry over to Classic, which you must be using Word 98 in. I suspect
you need to change the German Keyboard layout in the Classic settings
somehow.

Is there a separate help for Classic? Look in it re languages. I don't
know whether Classic/OS 9 required a special language pack for this.

Daiya's surmises are correct. The German keyboard layout will have no effect
in Classic, where Word 98 is operating. There's no Language Kit needed for
German - standard OS 9 (Classic) does most Western European languages. When
you're in a Classic app like Word 98, go to the Apple menu/Control
Panels/Keyboard and select German there.
