Mac Office 2004, and new Powerbook

Tom Mannle

Friends...I hope you can help me out

I have a Powerbook G4, that has one of the 3 authorized installations
of Office 2004 Student and Teacher addition running on it

I bought a new MacBook Pro, and transferred everything over to
it...including all the Office applications...

But, I also bought a new version of Office, to take advantage of the
"Suite Deal" for Office 2008...I would like to retain the original
installation of Office 2004 on the Powerbook G4, and install the newly-
acquired version of Office on the MacBook Pro, just to keep things
legal...

Question: what, if anything, do I have to do to de-install the
transferred version of Office on the MacBook Pro? Can I just change
the authorization code/license key without taking everything off, and
putting everthing back? Anyone have any ideas, or have done this
themselves?

Thanks, and Happy Holidays

There are several options to removing your CD key.

1) Easy way: launch the Remove Office application in the Additional Tools
Folder in your Microsoft Office 2004 folder. After you launch the
application. Press the option key at the first dialog window and the button
changes its name to read "Remove License Info Only."

2) Download Mac HelpMate (freeware). Mac HelpMate has an option to
De-Serialize Microsoft office. Open the app, authenticate by clicking the
lock, click on Clean, then choose De-Serialize Office.

3) Download the 'De-Serialise Office' script for Office 2004 from Barry
Wainwright's scripts page. This will remove the serial number from an Office
2004 installation for you, without de-installing & re-installing.

How do you de-serialize Office 2008?. I tried the methods you
specified for de-serializing office 2004, but didn't work.
I bought a new license for my second computer and I can't find the way
to enter the new serial number in Office 2008.

Thanks

You would have had to enter your license key during installation.

Hope this helps!
