Mac Office elements will not start

I have had Office installed on my Mac for several months. The buttons
still appear on my dock but the programs will not start now. I get
no error message, the icon just jumps around like it always did before
but nothing happens.

First do you have installed all updates? If not update and then run the
repair disk permition. Otherwise repair the disk permition.

Try to run it from application folder
Go to application folder, locate there Msoffice folder and find separe
application of office there. Try to run it from there-just click on
appropriate icon there.

Kindly post back with more info:
*you cannot run any of the office application, can you?
*Office version/OS version
*You haven't run the test drive, have you (your office was working fine for
several months and now suddenly they doesn't work)
*Have you installed any upades lately?

You might consider to run the first aid of your disk as well-also in disk
utility.

Have you try to renstall? Before doing that, kindly post back with more info
of which office you use.

Try clicking on the actual application in your Application folder. Do they
start here?

See "Multiple applications quit unexpectedly or fail to launch" for help.

FWIW - If the following from your first post is accurate I strongly
recommend that you follow Diane's direction to the Xlab site:

Dock icons don't "bounce" unless there is a problem of some sort - which may
not be directly related to the application you're launching. It is quite
likely an OS update issue.

I have my dock set on "animate on opening" and "genie effect" so that
the icons do bounce when I click them - they stop when the application
opens.

I understand, BUT the applications are supposed to open. Bouncing icons are
an indication of a problem in this case.

Why not just re-apply the combo updater from Apple and see if this helps. We
can spend time making suggestions that you don't seem willing to try.

Mac OS X 10.4.8 Combo Update (PPC)

Sorry Diane, didn't mean to appear as if I was not willing to try
something. I'm now - not only to Mac but to blogging. Didn't realize
that the suggestions had links attached to them (OK, I'm slow too),
thought you were suggesting things to try that you thought I would
know something about (this is also on my home computer so I'm not on
it constantly). Trying the combo update now. Thanks for your help.

I'm glad the update solved the problem. May I suggest since you are new to
Mac that you join a talk list. This is a newsgroup and not a blog BTW. A
talk list is one where you receive email messages. I suggest getting
individual messages rather than digests since it's easier to reply to a
message.

Talk lists are like a community. You get to know frequent listees and will
learn a lot from other people's troubles. Help is usually quick and it's
free. :)

I can recommended two good lists that help with you learn about everything
Mac. Both are moderated so you will get help and not a lot of noise.

Mac-L.. One of the oldest lists around.
<http://www.listmoms.net/lists/>

OSX.. <http://osxlist.com/>

Just remember we were all new at one time. There are no dumb questions.
