Mac Office OSX Upgrade that Won't

After installing Office:Mac OSX, I attempted to open the applications,
and get a messge telling me to navigate to the previously installed
version or the original CD from the previously installed version. I did
so, and get an error message saying that the CD or application isn't a
previously installed version.

News to me, since I've spent an awful lot of money on Microsoft Office
products, all the way to Excel 2.0/Mac. I've never used a bootleg copy,
and am very unhappy that this form of "bootleg protection" keeps
legitmate users from well, using, the programs they've bought.

Now what? I bought the upgrade legitamately -- is there a workaround
to get my program to work?

Have you give it another go? Un-install both versions and
start from scratch; install the old version and then try
to upgrade (if it isn't a full version you bought).

Sadly, I've done that twice. The old version won't install completely
because my OS is OSX, not 9.X. It's not installing completely under
"Classic" mode, either. The new upgrade won't work because
the old one won't, I think.

Kathy,

This group is for Windows versions of Office. Please repost your question
over in the Mac Office group (microsoft.public.office.mac), where you'll
find a number of MVPs ready and willing to assist you. MS have named their
groups so you may assume that anything without a 'qualifier' is for Windows.
All Mac groups are labelled as such.
