Mac OS X 10.3.4 & Entourage Conduit Problems

Lazaro Wolf

Hi,

I have recently installed Microsoft Office 2004 to a brand-new Apple
Powerbook with Mac OS X 10.3.4 installed. Also, I have a Palm Tungsten
T3 and I would like to sync them together via Bluetooth. I have
successfully paired the two devices, the HotSync operation work fine!
The only thing that I have as a problem is the following. Despite of
the installation of Microsoft Conduit, when I syncronize the two
devices, I see all data being backed up but the Log appears a
particular error message: That I should enable the Entourage Conduit
before doing something. In fact, it is enabled. What can I do to see
all my Palm data into Entourage? Thank you.

To avoid accidental data loss, synchronization between Entourage 2004 and
palmOne's new handhelds is turned off by default. Follow this procedure to
turn on synchronization after both Palm synchronization software and the
Microsoft Handheld Synchronization software have been installed:
1. Launch the HotSync Manager application (usually located in
HD/Applications/Palm)
2. Under the HotSync menu, choose Conduit Settings.
3. Double-click the "Entourage Conduit" entry.
4. Near the bottom, check the option to "Enable synchronization with these
new handhelds."
5. Click OK.

The handhelds that are affected by this issue are the ones that have
"Organizer Plus," including Zire 31, Zire 72, Tungsten E, and Tungsten T3.

I'm having a similar problem - Once I upgraded to Office 2004 my
Zire71 will sync, but the Entourage Conduit has stopped working. I
can't even reinstall the Conduit becuase I keep getting an error
message tell me "Microsoft Component Plug In not found" - I have the
plug in in the application support folder in my library folder, so I
don't know why the installer program cannot find it.

Have YOU tried reinstalling the conduit program??

I also had the conduit settings not appearing when I double-clicked.

In the end, I did two things to resolve it:

* Two versions of the Entourage Database Daemon were listed in my
Login (or accounts in system preferences) Items (the v.X and 2004). I
deleted them both from Login Items and re-added just the version from
the Office 2004 install (found in the Office sub-folder). (Sloppy
install from the CD, Microsoft).

* I deleted the old Office v.X installation (the uninstall option in
the Office 2004 folder, in additional tools).

Hope this helps,
Surelys
