I read a previous post on a MS group about deleting Office X First Run
to solve a specific problem. I've tried contacting MS and Apple about
a problem I'm having with no success.
I'm running Mac OS 10.3.3 on a 12" Powerbook (G4). The problem started
out of the blue. I have not recently downloaded new system software.
When I open up any Office X program or document I get the following
message: "An unexpected error occurred while trying to load the
Microsoft Framework X library."
I click OK and go one to work in the document successfully. This is
what I've done to date:
Created a "test" login account, where the problem did not occur. This
appears to eliminate hardware as a source of the problem. From my
login account, where the software problem appears to be located, I did
the following:
Pulled the Microsoft preference folder out of Library on to the
desktop. The problem persisted.
Pulled the Preference Folder out of Library on to the desktop. The
problem persisted.
Pulled the Cache Folder out of Library on to the desktop. The problem
persisted.
Ran the unix verify/repair permissions program. The problem persisted.
I deleted Office X First Run preference. The problem persisted.
Other than deleting Office X and reinstalling the program, any other
suggestions? Thanks.
