Mac OSX, ms word, while I do a spellchack, the program quits........

I have had MS word for OSX for almost a year. Now the program
consistently quits without saving when I do a spellcheck. I am sure it
is becuase of some update i downloaded but I am really confused as to
what it is and what to do.

Any help would be appreciated
