Mac > PC sure looks different

When running a PP show created on a Mac OSX on a PC running Windows XP, the
animations did not run the same. Some images just never appeared when they
were supposed to as they do on the Mac. One image which fades out on its own
on the Mac just sat there.

The PC had an older version of PP and I was wondering of this was a known
issue. Is the compatibility that bad between Mac and PC as well as between
older and newer versions of the viewer?

Hi

Each version of PowerPoint has its own set a capabilities. If you included a
feature in your presentation that is not supported by the version you are
using to display, the expected behavior is that nothing will happen.

PowerPoint 2004 will have a compatibility checker that will automatically
fix presentations so that they work on whatever version of PowerPoint you
are planning to use for display. I know that doesn't help you now, but it
sounds like a feature you will be able to use when Office 2004 becomes
available this spring.

Do you know if the comparability checker will alert you to the fact
that the images you've rotated won't be rotated in the PC version?

Hi

The compatibility checker will do exactly that. The rotated image "fix"
feature of the checker was demonstrated at MacWorld.
